Michelle J. Oosterbaan
(Born in Boston, MA, 1967)
Michelle Oosterbaan has exhibited work at The Drawing Center, New York, The Contemporary Art Museum in Saint Louis, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Morris Gallery, Philadelphia, PA, Gallery Joe, Philadelphia, PA, The Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, DE, Nexus Foundation for Today’s Arts, Philadelphia, PA and the Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia, PA
She has been awarded residencies at The MacDowell Colony, Fellowship in Peterborough, NH, Cite des Arts International, Paris, France, Yaddo, as a John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Fellow in Saratoga Springs, NY, and at The Gil Society ( Gilfelagio), Akureuri, Iceland.
Most recently as February 2008, she was awarded The Great Rivers Biennial Grant and Exhibit at the Contemporary Art Museum in Saint Louis generously supported by The Gateway Foundation .
In 2004 Michelle was a PEW Finalist in Painting, 2004 and enjoyed spending time learning from the contemporary masters while an apprentice at The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, PA, Apprentice from 1996 – 1998.
She has taught at University of Pennsylvania, Swarthmore College, Temple University and Drexel University before her term here at Washington University.
