Study Abroad Exhibition: Seth Caplan

November 11, 2009 - November 24, 2009
Weitman Gallery

Free and open to the public

This exhibition will showcase two projects from Seth Caplan's semester abroad in Santiago, Chile. The first, called "What do you do at night?," is a study of environmental portraits regarding nighttime moments of isolation and solitude. The second is a semester-long project entitled "Amor Publico/Privado," which explores the dialogue between public and private spaces in Santiago dating culture. It also looks at how the homosexual population functions within the cultural norms entitled to heterosexual couples such as widespread public displays of affection. The project also discusses the interaction of public and private spheres within the setting of hourly motels, a common place that couples go to be alone outside of the home.

The opening reception will be held Wednesday, November 11, from 3:30-5p in Weitman Gallery.
